Class Registration - 2026 Pilot Program
The Kiwanis Music Festival of St. John’s is introducing new categories of participation as limited pilots in 2026 in non-competitive categories for participants 11 years and under in solo popular vocal music, solo speech, and teacher-student piano duets. Depending on the response to the limited pilots, these classes may be modified, expanded, or discontinued in future years.
For all pilot classes: Repertoire selection must be specified at registration. Each participant must provide copyrighted music for the adjudicator.
Non-Competitive Popular Music Solo
Own Choice of One Vocal Selection
- Must be chosen from age and language-appropriate popular song repertoire, past or present.
- Must be performed from memory.
- Musical accompaniment must be provided live; soundtracks are not permitted.
Non-Competitive Solo Speech
Own Choice of One Solo Speech
Time Limit: 4 Minutes
- Must feature a continuous selection of speech chosen from published age and language-appropriate poetry, prose or drama, past or present.
- The piece must be performed from memory.
- Each participant must provide a copyrighted copy of the selection for the adjudicator.
