Class Registration - Choral
For the purposes of the Group Rose Bowl award, a group shall consist of 12 or more members. Competitors will be selected and recommended by the adjudicators. For full Group Choral Rose Bowl rules, see page 10.
Provincial/National recommendations may be made according to FCMF guidelines and upon the discretion of the adjudicator in consultation with the local festival association. For up to date information on the 2026 syllabus, visit www.fcmf.org.
Church Choirs
Own Choice of any Two pieces of Sacred Music
A church choir consists of a choir which sings REGULARLY in any one church. Must feature legitimate sacred music from either church or concert repertoire.

Show Choir
Own Choice of EITHER:
Two Contrasting Pieces (up tempo and ballad) in any order
OR
Medley featuring a maximum of four songs (at least one of the four has to be a ballad). It is the responsibility of the performer to supply original music for the adjudicator.
Time Limit: 15 Minutes
- Minimum of 6 Singers, Maximum of 25 Singers
- A maximum of 15 minutes, which will be timed from the initial bow until leaving the stage, including intervals between selections.
- Music may be from any contemporary style of Pop Performance, Musical Theatre, Disney, Country, Rock, a cappella, Folk or their own scored arrangement.
Movement: Choreography is a must for this category; however, ballads should have more minimal movement than the up-tempo selection. While choreography is required, gymnastic moves are not permitted.
Props: Each choir is allowed one giant prop for the whole choir to use or one small individual prop. Giant prop example, if a small backdrop is needed to support the theme of the material and can be set up efficiently, this will be permitted and considered as the group’s giant prop. Small individual prop example: each choir member carries a flashlight; however, this will be the only prop to be used during the performance.
A maximum of four chairs can be used for the performance. This does not count as a small or big prop; however, if each performer is to have a chair, it will be considered a small individual prop.
